About the Post:

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Comparative Political Economy to begin in winter semester 2019/20. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor). The professorship is funded by the Federal Tenure Track Programme.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the support and promotion of early-career scientists. Candidate should be an expert with an innovative transdisciplinary research agenda in political science with a specialization in quantitative methods or development policy and an empirical and/or methodological focus on Comparative Political Economy. The willingness to closely cooperate with other thematically related departments, such as the TUM School of Management, the Department for Mechanical Engineering order Department for Mathematics is a prerequisite. The teaching load includes courses in the university's bachelor´s and master´s programs. We expect the successful candidate to integrate technological and economic aspects into political science in research and teaching. Inter- or transdisciplinary approaches are therefore considered an asset.

Qualifications:

The candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards is being sought. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English and German, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad, the proven ability to gain and to lead cooperative research projects and third-party funding, and an empirical and/or methodological focus on Comparative Political Economy from an inter- or transdisciplinary perspective are expected.
