DESCRIPTION

The scholarship is named for Melbourne alumnus the Hon Alex Chernov AC QC, former Governor of Victoria, Judge of the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Victoria, and chancellor of the University of Melbourne. After a celebrated career at the Victorian Bar punctuated by leadership and service to the community, Mr Chernov was instrumental in founding the Australia India Institute, serving as Chair of the Institute from 2008-2011 and as its Patron from 2011 onwards.
ELIGIBILITY
Open to international students from India commencing the Master of Laws (LLM):
if commencing in the start-year intake (March), your application must be submitted by 31 October 2018.
if commencing in the mid-year intake (July), your application must be submitted by 30 April 2019.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Selection will be based on academic merit.
VALUE of Scholarship
The scholarship will contribute the recipient's full tuition fees for the one-year full-time Master of Laws (LLM), as well as a single payment of $20,000.
Former Judge of the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Victoria and Governor of Victoria, the Hon Alex Chernov, will provide mentoring for the successful applicant.
Three scholarships are available.
HOW TO APPLY
Students offered a place in the Master of Laws (LLM), commencing in 2019, who applied for the Master of Laws (LLM) by 31 October 2018 (for start-year intake) and 30 April 2019 (for mid-year intake) will be automatically considered for this scholarship.
